The Mexican American warfare was a grand war mingled with Mexico and Texans. Things started badly when Stephen Austin, son of Missoiuri banker Moses Austin, moved to Texas along with three hundred families. Differences in language and culture had produced bitter enmity between the colonists and Native Mexicans. The colonist disdaind to learn the Spanish language, maintained their throw seperate schools and conducted most of their trade with the U.S. The Mexican government reaffirmed its constitution and disallow slavery it also restricted trade with the U.S. and declared an abate to further American Immigration.
General Santa Anna overthrows the Mexican government and becomes dictator and in 1836 Texas declares their independence and is known as Republican Texas. Santa Anna leads a Mexican Army into Texas marching into San Antonio, or the Spanish burster known as the Alamo. The American commander is Col. William Travis along witht a famous fronteirsmen named James Bowey. The seize begins on February 23 and Santa Anna declares no quarter. Texans start to run out of ammo but refuse to surrender. Mexicans finally attack anda almost everyone on the American office die. This was known as the battle of Goliad or Remember the Alamo.




At the battle of San Jacinto, General Sam Houstan retreats until he reaches the San Jacinto river, where he turns and conducts a surprise attack on the Mexicans winning the battle in 18 minutes. The entire mexican army is killed or capture. At this time Polk is president and he sends John Slidell to Mexico in grade to negociatee California.
