Females were frequently such victims because of the way they were viewed in society. For, women were seen as dependents on the men- fathers, husbands, guardians, evidently a woman could not live without them.
Also, women had little freedoms, for example, they couldnt buy or sell property without permission. So it is an indisputable conclusion that the family structure and ways of early Romans does not learn the families of the present, or those to which we are accustomed.
